Kenya secured a formal commitment from Russia on Monday that Kenyan nationals would no longer be enlisted into the Russian military, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi announced after meeting his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, following months of mounting pressure at home over the recruitment of more than 1,000 Kenyans into a war that Nairobi has no stake in and is legally prohibited from supporting.
