A Hezbollah rocket struck a vehicle in the northern Israeli kibbutz of Misgav Am on Sunday morning, killing a resident in what marked the first death from cross-border fire originating in Lebanon since Hezbollah resumed hostilities on March 2, a killing that Israeli defense officials immediately cited as justification for a broadening set of military directives that now include the systematic destruction of bridges over the Litani River and the demolition of Lebanese homes in border communities.
